Big Idea!

A father wants his children to know he loves them—no matter what—but also wants to prepare them to get along in the world.  I chose the Kenyan Serengeti because the environment is harsh and helps readers understand the consequence of a mistake (like falling asleep when you’re the herd boy).  Within a father’s loving arms, his son learns when to do things for himself, when to learn from his father, and when his father will protect.
